A. Dry Scalp

When your skin or scalp has little or no moisture, you get a Dry Scalp. Dehydration is the main reason. Your skin becomes irritated or itchy and flakes off. You may have noticed that your skin, your arms or legs, and hands, or any other parts of the body remain dry in this condition. There are various causes to get dry scalp like:
1. If you are in a place where there is a lot of cold and dry air.
2. Hair products such as shampoo, gel, hairspray, etc. reactions like Contact Dermatitis.
3. If you are very old.
New scalp cell continuously replaces the old died cells from your scalp. This is a routine process. In the dry scalp, the shedding of these cells increases exponentially which causes many other problems like seborrheic dermatitis.
In this condition skin becomes flakey, oil and red with white and yellow scales shed off.
Seborrheic dermatitis often chooses a place where you have oily glands like eyebrows, armpits, groins, and scalp.

Along with dandruff, many people are infected by the fungus Malassezia which increases dandruff manifolds. This fungal infection causes rapid multiplication of cells hence more shedding off cells. There are many factors through which Malassezzia increases or prevails such as age, hormones, and stress, etc.
Dandruff is never caused by dirty hair. Although, some professionals suggest that not washing your hair properly may cause oil to build up which increases the risk of dandruff.

1. If you have a dry scalp, you must wash your hair with not so strong hair shampoo and apply moisturizer immediately after.
2. For dandruff wash your hair thoroughly with a gentle shampoo and reduce the number of oily products.
3. You can also use zinc pyrithione or ketoconazole shampoo.
